PEPPER PIKE, Ohio --- Kaufman, Drozdowski & Grendell, LLC (KDG), a law firm on the East Side of Cleveland focused exclusively on providing a new approach to outside counsel for small and middle market companies, is pleased to welcome Jean R. Robertson and Evan T. Byron to the firm’s partnership. These additions bring KDG’s total attorney count to nine and expand the firm’s service offerings to include robust creditor-debtor rights and restructuring capabilities.

Robertson and Byron join KDG’s six partners, Arthur M. Kaufman, James M. Drozdowski, Henry G. Grendell, Stephen P. Owendoff, Matthew J. McCracken, Rose Marie L. Fiore; and Of Counsel Amie LaBahn. KDG was established in 2016 with a sharply-defined focus: disrupt the crowded Northeast Ohio legal market. Having spent time on both sides of the attorney-client relationship – as partners in large Cleveland law firms and as general counsel to area businesses – the firm’s founders saw the opportunity to fulfill a real need for a more practical, strategic, and cost-effective way to deliver legal services to business owners and in-house counsel.

Ms. Robertson brings with her more than 27 years of experience in the areas of corporate insolvency, financial restructuring, and litigation, with a niche in the aluminum and steel industries; she began her career in Pittsburgh, and currently serves as General Counsel for Beck Aluminum, where she oversees compliance, contract management, governance, human resources, and risk management issues.

Her national reputation includes consistent recognition by the legal and business media: She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, named to the list of the Top 50 Women Ohio Super Lawyers by Super Lawyers, identified as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Restructuring in Chambers USA, named a Leading Lawyer by Inside Business Magazine, and she is AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics.

Ms. Robertson earned her J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law, J.D., and her B.A., cum laude, from The Ohio State University. She is licensed to practice in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York, and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the Western District of Wisconsin.

Mr. Byron comes to KDG from a boutique litigation and transactional law firm, where he was head of the litigation practice. His experience includes commercial and business litigation, residential and commercial real estate, receivership, property management, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, leasing and landlord/tenant matters, banking, construction, and employment law. He has tried matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts, and has had matters go before the American Arbitration Association, FINRA, and other various administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

Mr. Byron is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and serves on the board of the Cuyahoga County Debarment Review Board. He received his J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and his B.A. from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. He is licensed to practice in Ohio, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Sixth Circuit’s Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
